Mission

Rocky’s Agency on Aging is dedicated to promoting choice, dignity, and engagement for older adults and people with disabilities across our six-county service area.

Values

We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to age and live well in their own homes and communities. Embracing the principles of the Older Americans Act, we advocate for the empowerment of older adults and people with disabilities, emphasizing their right to control their lives and the services they use. We are dedicated to providing caregivers and family members with the full support of our aging and disability service networks. Through partnerships with individuals and organizations, we work to create and sustain age and disability-friendly communities that respect and protect the civil liberties of all.

Vision Statement

Rocky's Agency on Aging envisions a world in which older adults and adults with disabilities are empowered with self-determination, allowing them to live a fulfilling life of their choice.

Who We Are

Rocky's Agency on Aging, a program of the Rocky Mountain Development Council headquartered in Helena, Montana, is your free one-stop shop, connecting seniors and persons with disabilities to vital information and services to maintain the right of self-determination of the individual. Along with our main office located in Helena, we have an additional Long Term Care Ombudsman office in Bozeman.  As one of Montana's nine Area Agencies on Aging, we cater to seniors aged 60 and over, as well as adults aged 18 and older with disabilities.

What We Provide

What Drives Us

Older Americans Act

The Older Americans Act services in Area IV are overseen by the combined Area IV Governing Board and Advisory Council. The Governing Board includes County Commissioners from each Area IV county or their designees, along with a Representative of Nutrition Services. As mandated by the Older Americans Act, the Advisory Council comprises representatives aged 60 or older from each of the Area IV counties.

Older Montanans Act

The Older Montanans Act is a state-level legislation that allows Montana's aging population their right to self-determination. It provides funding for programs and services that support older adults in areas such as nutrition, health, caregiver support, and community-based services. The goal of the Older Montanans Act is to promote the health, independence, and well-being of older Montanans, allowing them to age with dignity and remain active members of their communities.

Human Resources

Rocky's Agency on Aging relies on the dedication of our volunteers, contractors, and staff members. Together, they provide a wide range of services outlined in the Older Americans Act.
