Rocky Volunteer Spotlight!

There is something special about volunteerism. It reminds us that we don't always need money or material items in return for our work to be happy. The selfless act of providing for others while asking for nothing in return can bring immense joy.

Mary Sue, a volunteer in our Meals on Wheels Program, is a shining example of how giving back creates happiness. Delivering meals twice a week at Rocky's Eagles Manor Residences — where she lives in an apartment she loves — is the highlight of her week. It allows her to regularly see clients she calls friends while getting routine exercise, which has become an important part of staying healthy.

"I am a social butterfly, but I wasn't always this way. A friend got me out of my shell, and now I love being around people. Delivering has helped me experience the joy of others. There are many in need of food — not only do they get meals, but they also get socialization. On top of that, I like to stay active. Delivering has provided a way for me to do that, helping me stay emotionally and physically healthy," said Mary Sue.

She learned the importance of "paying it forward" from her mother, who volunteered in the Meals on Wheels Program in her hometown of Malta, Montana. Today, she carries her mother's giving spirit with her — touching the lives of many while finding the simple happiness we all hope to experience in life.

Thank you, Mary Sue, for all that you do!
