Senior Meals on Wheels
Each year, RMDC helps approximately 500 seniors in Lewis & Clark, Broadwater, and Jefferson counties live as independently as they are able through the Meals on Wheels program.
Hot, nutritious meals are delivered Monday through Friday to seniors 60 and over who are homebound because of a disabling physical, emotional, or environmental condition.
RMDC’s Meals on Wheels program operates in the following communities:
- Helena  - 447-1680
- East Helena  - 447-1680
- Augusta  - 562-3623
- Lincoln – 362-4504
- Townsend – 266-3995
- Whitehall – 287-5336
- Boulder (Tuesday and Thursday only) – 447-1680
Meals on Wheels service functions different in each rural community.Â
In the Helena and East Helena areas:
- Meals are delivered 5 days a week, between 10 am and 2 pm.
- Meal delivery can be arranged for any days you want. You do not need to request meals all 5 days of the week.
- If, on the day of a meal, you decide you do not want that day’s meal, call before 9 am to cancel (447-1680)
- Meal cost for individuals who are 60 and older is a suggested minimum donation of $4.00 per meal. For individuals who are younger than 60, there is a required $7.00 per meal cost.
- The Meals on Wheels program sends a monthly statement to trigger payment.
- If you are on a special diet (for example, no added salt, pureed, no concentrated sweets), ask your doctor to write you a prescription stating your diet requirements and we will start delivery of an appropriate meal.
- Limited breakfast foods are also available for delivery with your lunch. $3 charge for those 60 and over.
- Meals on Wheels can be requested immediately. Call (406) 457-7361 or (406) 447-1680 with questions or to request delivery.
