HOW ENERGY SHARE HELPS
The primary way that Energy Share helps individuals and families through energy emergencies is by paying all or a portion of past due heating bills. Families who live paycheck-to-paycheck often face a financial emergency when an unexpected expense occurs, such as a vehicle breaking down, loss of employment, or medical expenses. In certain circumstances, Energy Share can also help with replacing inefficient, older refrigerators and water heaters, and with some furnace repairs.
WHEN CAN ENERGY SHARE HELP?
If you are facing a heat emergency during this summer season Energy Share does accept applications. We encourage you to work with your fuel provider to devise a pay arrangement. If you receive a shut-off notice from NorthWestern Energy, their phone number will be on your notice. If you have been a LIEAP client, you should receive a pre-printed application during September for the following winter season.
is a private, nonprofit organization whose primary purpose is to help Montanans, faced with energy emergencies, meet their needs and move towards self-reliance. Energy Share is one of the programs that RMDC has at its disposal in finding the best combination of assistance for families and individuals in need.
If you are facing a heat emergency, or need assistance with a past due bill in order to get a new account in your name, Energy Share accepts applications year-round. During the LIEAP season (10/1 through 4/30), you must apply for both programs. If you receive a shut-off notice from NorthWestern Energy, call them at 888-467-2669 to see what options you have. We encourage you to work with your fuel provider to devise a payment arrangement.
Energy Share helps people with heating bill assistance once every 10 years up to a maximum of $700.
